Alpha-arbutin is the epimer of arbutin, which has been found to have stronger inhibitory action than that of arbutin.
Even in very low concentration, A-Arbutin can inhibit the activity of tyrosinase.
Alpha-Arbutin is a pure, water-soluble, biosynthetic active ingredient which promotes lightening and an even skin tone on all skin types.
It blocks epidermal melanin biosynthesis by inhibiting enzymatic oxidation of tyrosine and Dopa. This leads to a non-irritating, lightening activity on the skin, minimizing brown spots, uneven skin tones, tonal scarring from acne, liver spots, age spots etc. and reduces the degree of skin tanning after UV exposure.   
The treatment is in 2 stages. The serum is applied first followed by the cream, night and day. Sun exposure is completely avoided by using the Total Sun Block from Sandine Zartaux with Titanium Dioxide.
